Packaging Laboratory
The packaging laboratory at San Jose State University is one of the country’s best equipped facilities for the design, fabrication and testing of packages. The lab acts as a student facility but also can be utilized for contract testing by companies looking for a third party unbiased test facility. We engage in development of test methodologies for clients who are not able to have dedicated packaging departments. The operation of a Package design and testing facility at a university allows for the input of new ideas from students in the design process and gives the students real-world issues to problem solve.
Our test and fabrication facilities include:
- Shock Testing
- Vibration Testing
- Compression Testing
- Environmental Conditioning
- Accelerated Aging
- Porosity Tests - Gurley
- Pouch Fabrication (heatsealers: hot bar and impulse)
- Pressure Testing of Pouches for Hermetic Integrity
- Tensile Testers
- Mullen Burst (Corrugated)
- Edge Crush (Corrugated)
