Graduate Program

M.S. Program - Packaging Objective

Graduate Program

When enrolling in the MS Packaging Technology program, a minimum of 15 credits of the 30 unit Masters curriculum is required to be 200 level. The remaining 15 units can be 100 level by approval of the graduate committee and graduate coordinator or a mixture thereof. In addition, two competency exams are required for MS students.

The Packaging competency exam is required for students with a Graduate Objective in Packaging which covers Pkg 107 and either Pkg 141A or Pkg 141B, and 80% passage is required for progression in the program.

The second competency exam would most likely be in food science (over NuFS 103 material) unless for some reason the nutrition for foodservice management competency exams are more appropriate in relation to the students background.

The other option would be to do a Masters Project (NuFS 298) for 3 units instead of a Masters Thesis (NuFS 299) for 6 units and make up the missing 2 units with another Masters level 200 course; either from NuFS or from another outside department as approved by the students graduate committee and graduate coordinator.
