Nutrition for Physical Performance Minor

The minor in Nutrition for Physical Performance helps prepare students with various sports and physical performance interest on the importance of nutrition for physical activity.

This curriculum offers a variety of classes from general nutrition through the life span to a specialized nutrition course for sports and training. 

When one is involved in any aspect of physical performance they are exposed to questions about nutrition and its effects on improving performance for both sports competition and leisure activities.

This minor will help educate the student about the importance of FOOD FOR FUEL. Below is a list of a few careers where nutrition questions may be asked of you: 

Athletic Training
Exercise Physiology
Biomechanics
Fitness Coordinator
Adapted Physical Education
Physical Therapy
Occupational Therapy

Curriculum Plan

Requirements for the minor: 15 units; a minimum of 6 units taken in Nutrition and Food Science at SJSU, and a minimum of 9 upper division units.

1 Prerequisite HuP 155 (Physiology of Human Performance) required; if HuP 162 is
   required by the major, select another nutrition course with advisor approval.

(Physical Fitness and Nutrition) is not allowed for majors or minors.
