Graduate Program Objectives Once you have been accepted for admission to the NuFS Department at SJSU, you will have to select a graduate program objective. There are four specific objectives and one generalized program to choose from. If you are interested in pursuing a General Program Objective, early in your graduate work, you will need to select a faculty advisor and define your thesis or project problem. To select specific courses in addition to the 10-core units, you will require the advisement and consultation of your graduate advisor and/or graduate committee. The four specific program objectives are geared to allow the student to specialize in a particular field of Nutrition and Food Science. They are Nutritional Science, Food Science, Nutrition Education, Gerontological Nutrition, and Foodservice Management.
