Choosing a Graduate Advisor After preliminary advising by the Graduate Coordinator, Dr. Panfilo Belo, and after deciding on a specific graduate program objective, you are encouraged to select a specific faculty member to be your advisor. Since your thesis/project development is the responsibility of your graduate advisor you should make an appointment to discuss your research interests with Dr. Clarie Hollenbeck (graduate research coordinator). He will help you decide on a possible research project/thesis and recommend an appropriate graduate advisor. If the faculty member is available and is willing to serve, you must make an official request (in writing) asking the faculty member to serve as your graduate advisor. Your advisor must be full-time faculty, although part-time faculty may sit on your committee as well. Each faculty member makes a short presentation in the second week of NuFS 201, the graduate colloquium class, where they discuss their past and current projects as well as specialties and areas of interest. Take the time to get to know the faculty members in your area of interest and talk to them about possible project ideas that interest you as well as them. Part-time faculty:
