The Department of Nutrition, Food Science, and Packaging has had a concentration in Food Science and Technology since 1985. The curriculum includes support courses from mathematical, computer, and physical sciences; life sciences; and communication areas. Students have the option to select elective courses outside the major and/or to complete courses in business/marketing, chemistry, journalism, industrial technology, or other areas.
The Food Science & Technology Concentration prepares graduates for careers as food scientists, food technologists, and consumer specialists. In addition, with the appropriate coursework, students are also prepared for advanced degrees (M.S.).
