Goals of the Training Program
To provide agencies with annual training on significant compliance topics.
To provide agencies with access to available resources.
To provide agencies with updates of requirements in the Child Nutrition Program.
To present an opportunity for agencies to review their programs and verify that they are meeting minimum requirements.
To help agencies eliminate common administrative errors.
Specific Objectives
Identify how to access and use the online Training Program appropriately.
Utilize the flexibility of the online Training Program for training of staff involved in all aspects of your program.
Recognize the topic for each module being presented in the training.
Identify useful icons and utilize Web sites in each module.
Note the time line required for completion of the training.
Identify requirements for completing the Quizzes and Evaluation and receiving the Certificate of Completion.
How to Use the Program
Each module is a “stand-alone” training section. Each sponsor should identify the appropriate staff person(s) who will be responsible for completing each module and taking its respective quiz based on job duties at their agency.
For example, the Verification module might be completed by the child nutrition director and/or a staff person who is responsible for completing the verification process.
Training modules can be provided to other staff at your agency in addition to those designated to complete a specific module.
For example, the Meal Eligibility module might be completed by multiple personnel at your agency if several staff assist with applications when students return to school and the workload is heavy.
The training modules may be printed and copied to share with multiple child nutrition program staff and can be used for classroom or individual instruction.

It is important to complete the more critical training modules prior to this deadline as described below:
The Verification module should be done during your annual verification activities.
The Meal Eligibility and Meal Counting modules should be done as soon as possible.
The Meal Claiming module should be completed prior to submission of your first Claim for Reimbursement.

Mandatory Training Requirement
The CDE will monitor sponsor completion of the 2007 annual mandatory training by April 1, 2008.
All sponsors who complete the training, including the Online Quizzes and Evaluation, by the deadline will receive a Certificate of Completion.
The Certificate of Completion must be kept on file and available during a Coordinated Review Effort (CRE) audit.
Note: Only one Certificate of Completion per agency will be distributed regardless of how many staff work on the training.
Agencies that do not fulfill the annual training mandate will have child nutrition program reimbursement withheld.
Online Quizzes and Evaluation
The final phase of the 2007 annual mandatory training is to
Complete the Online Quiz at the conclusion of each module.
Complete the Evaluation after completing all of the Online Quizzes.
Instructions for Completing the Online Quizzes and the Evaluation
The Online Mandatory Training, Online Quizzes, and Training Evaluation will be accessible from Cal-Pro-NET at San Jose State University. (http://www.nufs.sjsu.edu/calpronet/amt1_instruct.htm)
Online Quizzes:
For each module, review the module Instruction and Web sites, then complete the online Quiz and submit. The staff person designated to complete a Module will take the Quiz for that module.
Note: The designated coordinator at an agency must ensure that Quizzes for all modules have been submitted in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.
Evaluation:
The Evaluation may be completed by one staff person, such as the coordinator, on behalf of the agency.
If multiple staff members would like to evaluate the training, compile all responses into the one Evaluation completed by the designated coordinator.
A preview of the Evaluation which can be viewed, downloaded, and printed is available at this location: http://www.nufs.sjsu.edu/calpronet/pdf/evaluation2007.pdf [PDF] This preview of the Evaluation is not intended for submission.
