Please note: the internal dietetic internship program in the Nutrition and Food Science Department at SJSU is only available to graduates of our program.

The internal dietetic internship at SJSU is a 7-month (full-time) or 12-month (part-time) work experience program with a minimum of 1000 supervised hours. It is currently granted Probationary Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of The American Dietetic Association, 120 S. Riverside Plaza Suite 2000, Chicago, 60606-6995, (312) 899-4876. Upon completion of the DI, students are eligible to write the registered dietitian’s examination administered by The American Dietetic Association.

An internal dietetic internship begins after completion of a bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition. Students must sign up for 18-24 units of NuFS 280A to meet the internal dietetic internship's continuous enrollment status. A student cannot intern at the same organization where the student acquired the 450 internal dietetic internship prerequisite hours of work or volunteer dietetic experience. The internal internship director at SJSU is Dr. Kathryn Sucher.
