Application Information for External Dietetic Internships

External Dietetic Internship information meetings are conducted by Dr. Nancy Lu, usually at the end of each semester. Dr. Lu has three packets of information for NuFS students applying to an external dietetic internship. The information packets may be obtained from Dr. Lu and consist of the following information:

• PART I: Informs NuFS students about the application process for an external dietetic internship. Included in the packet is a calendar of important deadlines.
• PART II: Informs NuFS students about Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) transcript evaluation deadlines, required letters of faculty recommendations, tips on applying for dietetic internships, computer matching of students to internal or external dietetic internships, and much more.
• PART III: Provides NuFS students with a list of current external and internal dietetic internship positions (over 100 each) from accredited programs.

In order to apply for any internship, you must have completed the ADA DPD requirements. You must have a Declaration of Intent or SJSU DPD Verification. DPD transcript evaluation is conducted by Dr. Nancy Lu, the DPD director. You must contact her at least 2 semesters before applying to have your DPD transcripts evaluated. 

Each dietetic internship program differs in length of program, number of interns, commencement date of program, and offers of financial aid of stipends. Students interested in specific internship sites listed in the Directory of Dietetic Programs should contact the facility for further information.
