Elective Classes for Dietetic Undergraduates

Elective Units

Earn one unit of credit per semester as a nutrition club officer in San José State University's Student Nutrition and Food Science Club. The credits earned through officiating in the club can apply towards nutrition electives. Units earned in the Nutrition and Food Science club are counted under NuFS 180. Only four units of NuFS 180 may count towards the BS degree.
Acceptable Electives
Any of the NuFS classes that are not requirements in one's major are suitable as electives.
Electives Not Recommended
NuFS 009 and NuFS 163 are not recommended by the department for nutrition majors, as the classes include much content that is repetitive of core course work.

Also these classes are not open to nutrition majors; they are general education classes for students outside the major. However, if the aforementioned classes are taken before declaring a NuFS major, the classes will then count as an elective.
