About this Website

This website was originally designed as part of a Master's Degree Research Project in an effort to determine if access to on-line information would improve student satisfaction with advising in the Nutrition and Food Science Department. The research was funded in part through a the generous Graduate Student Research Assistance Award by the Circle of Friends Alumni Association, which subsidized some of the cost in developing and evaluating the website. This website is intended to be a "work in progress," as nothing in the world of technology or education can or should remain static.

Many Thanks To:

  • Dr. Miriam Saltmarch Perry, for her guidance throughout the project, and continuous instruction in web design

  • Dr. Lucy McProud, who made it possible for this website to be used within the department

  • Dr. Kathryn Sucher, who offered time and advice while reviewing the website

  • The entire Faculty and Staff of the Nutrition and Food Science Department, without whom much of this information could never have been compiled

  • Numerous past and present students, who took the time to review the site, make suggestions for improvement and participate in the research questionnaire

About the Website Designer

Caroline Spinali, a graduate student in Nutritional Sciences in the NuFS Department from 1998-2003, completed her MS degree in 2003 and continued in the dietetic internship program through SJSU. She spent nearly 3 years in the completion of this website as part of her Master's Research and is grateful to the many people who helped her along the way. Subsequent versions of this website have been created by many talented and generous people.
